We aim to the shift the language from being a well-intentioned “ally” and more to being and active participant in the liberatory movements within Reproductive Justice.
Participating in Reproductive Justice means organizing around human rights stances that will vastly expand social safety nets for demoralized communities.
Canary wants to illicit support for compassion birthing practices through the use of doulas and nurse midwives to carry on beyond the screen. Studies have shown that birth advocates can vastly increase health outcomes.
We are partnering with leading anti-racist scholars to leave viewers with an anti-racist toolkit that will better help all participants in American society create a more hospital world for our mothers of color.
As part of our impassioned invocation, we demand that the United States prioritize parenthood over profits in the form of a federal family leave mandate, universal childcare, education, healthcare, affordable housing and the right to a safe environment.
The ultimate goal of this project is to: Educate. Illuminate. Galvanize.
